Cheshire Ring Race 2010

This challenging canoe race allows you to race your heart out whilst marvelling at the wonders of the industrial revolution.

The race route runs anticlockwise from near Macclesfield along the Macclesfield canal to Marple then follows the Peak Forest, Ashton and Rochdale canals into Manchester joining the Bridgewater canal at Castlefield. The route heads out to Preston Brook, joins the Trent & Mersey canal to Kidsgrove and rejoins the Macclesfield canal back to the finish.

With 96 miles of canal, 92 locks, 3 tunnel portages, and without the benefit of any tides or currents to help you home, the race is a serious challenge for K1 and K2 paddlers, but done as a relay race it is accessible to even relatively inexperienced paddlers.

The 2010 race is being held on 26/27th June.
