Paddle UK insurance is subject to the policy wording, eligibility rules and exclusions. For English affiliated clubs, club activity must be assessed within the Club’s safety framework and promoted on the Club calendar, website or noticeboard. Swimming pool sessions can be covered when included within the safety framework.
The scheme’s published insurance year runs from 1 November to 31 October. The evidence linked above relates to 2025–26; it should not be used as proof of cover beyond 31 October 2026.
For current certificates, scope of cover or insurance enquiries, consult Marsh Sport’s Paddle UK club insurance page or call 0345 872 5060.
Our Constitution
The Constitution sets out the formal rules for running the Club and the rights and responsibilities of its members. It covers membership, elected officers, general meetings, financial accountability and decisions affecting the Club.
Constitutional changes must follow the procedures in the approved document, including any requirements for notice, voting and a General Meeting.
Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC)
KKC is registered with HMRC as a Community Amateur Sports Club. The CASC scheme is designed for eligible amateur sports clubs that are open to the community and operate for qualifying sporting purposes.
Our registration brings ongoing requirements relating to community access, amateur participation, governance and the use of Club income and assets. CASCs may qualify for certain tax reliefs and Gift Aid on eligible donations, subject to HMRC rules.
Read the official HMRC CASC guidance for full eligibility and ongoing requirements.
Our Aims & Objectives
KKC aims to promote participation in canoeing and kayaking, provide opportunities for learning, recreation and competition, and support a safe, welcoming and sustainable club in the Hull community.
- Help people of different ages and abilities participate in paddlesport.
- Develop paddlers, coaches and volunteers through suitable activities and opportunities.
- Manage and improve facilities and equipment at Albert Avenue.
- Encourage fairness, respect, responsible behaviour and care for the environment.
- Manage Club resources responsibly for the benefit of its sporting purposes.
For the Club’s formal objectives, refer to the current Constitution.
Club Management & Committee
Kingston Kayak Club is managed by a volunteer Committee whose roles and powers are defined in the Constitution. It oversees finances, facilities, equipment, operational arrangements, policies and the Club’s future development.
Details of current officers and volunteers are on the Committee & Volunteers page. Members are encouraged to raise suggestions, questions and concerns with the Committee.
General Meetings & Member Involvement
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) gives members an opportunity to receive officer reports, review Club finances, elect officers and consider matters requiring member approval. Extraordinary General Meetings can be called in accordance with the Constitution.
Members should refer to the Constitution for the precise arrangements for notice, eligibility to vote, quorums and constitutional amendments.
Financial Accountability
The Club aims to manage membership income, donations and other funds responsibly and in support of its sporting objectives. Financial management and reporting arrangements are established by the Constitution and overseen by the Committee, including the Treasurer.
The Club’s CASC obligations also inform the permitted use of income and assets. For specific financial rules, refer to the Constitution and any current policies approved by the Committee.
Paddle UK Affiliation & Insurance
KKC’s 2026–27 Paddle UK affiliation certificate identifies the Club’s affiliation. As an affiliated English club, KKC can access Paddle UK’s combined liability insurance scheme, subject to the scheme’s eligibility conditions and full policy terms.
Marsh Sport currently describes scheme limits of £15 million public liability, £10 million professional indemnity, £10 million employers’ liability and £5 million directors’ and officers’ liability. These are scheme limits, not a guarantee that every activity, individual or claim is covered.
The Club’s risk assessments and safety arrangements remain important. Insurance for private paddling outside recognised Club activity should not be assumed to follow from Club affiliation.
Paddle UK Affiliation & Good Practice
KKC is affiliated to Paddle UK, the national governing body for paddlesport. The Club uses relevant Paddle UK guidance to inform coaching, safeguarding, safety and governance arrangements. Guidance from Sport England also supports good governance.
Documents and annual review
The Committee is responsible for maintaining suitable governance records and reviewing its arrangements. Policies, certificates and approvals should display their relevant version or period, and updates should be published when available.
Annual review around the AGM is a useful opportunity to check this information, but urgent updates should not be delayed until that meeting.
