Kingston Paddlers Shine at 2026 Canoe Polo World Championships

A huge congratulations to Catrin Schroder, who was part of the Great Britain Senior Women’s Team that secured a bronze medal at the Championships.

The GB Women put in a fantastic performance throughout the tournament, earning their place on the World Championship podium.

There was another Kingston connection behind the result, with Lee Busby coaching the GB Senior Women throughout their campaign.

Lee dedicates a huge amount of his time to coaching and developing players, both at Kingston and within the GB programme. Seeing the team achieve a World Championship bronze medal is a great reward for all that hard work.

It’s a brilliant achievement for Catrin, Lee and the entire GB Women’s squad.

Fourth in the World for Alex Lowthorpe

There was also an excellent performance from Alex Lowthorpe, who represented the Great Britain Senior Men’s Team.

Alex, who plays his club canoe polo for Kingston A, helped Great Britain reach the latter stages of the competition, eventually finishing fourth in the world.

Competing against the very best international teams and finishing amongst the top four is a tremendous achievement, and another result that everyone at Kingston can be proud of.

Kingston on the World Stage

It’s not every day that a club gets to celebrate three of its members representing Great Britain at a World Championships, particularly with results like these.

Kingston has a long history of competitive canoe polo, and it’s great to see our players and coaches continuing to make their mark at international level.

Their achievements also show our younger and developing paddlers just how far the sport can take them.
