Slalom events 2013

The new slalom season is fast approaching so don’t forget to send off for your bib in plenty of time, if you paddle without your bib any points you gain may be lost.

Slalom training will start again Tuesday nights on the outdoor pool as soon as the weather allows run by Andy, myself or Scott.

As well as the pool training we have scheduled a number of sessions on moving water and a number of dates when at least one coach will be available at local events. There are also a couple of club weekends when we will have a number of coaches available and we hope as many of you as possible will come along and give slalom a try. These weekends are usually great fun and as well as providing a great opportunity to paddle some white water, compete at slalom and partake in as much paddling as you can cope with there is plenty of time to socialise and relax.

Please can you check your diaries and pencil in any events you would like to attend. We will need at least 2 weeks notice if you are planning to make an event so we can plan a coach to attend. If no paddlers have registered with us by the cut-off date then it is unlikely a coach will be available.

We have not planned slalom trips on dates where there are local marathons!

If there are any other events you would like to attend please speak to Andy, Scott or myself and we will see what we can arrange.

Please could all ranked paddlers (paddlers with bibs) and those who regularly paddle at interclubs please put the date for interclubs in your diary as you may be selected to paddle for Kingston at the event.

Div 1 events – Dave, Andy or Duncan may well be competing so there will usually be someone available to coach
Div2 events – Duncan will usually be available to coach.

Remember to get your entries in early and also let the club slalom coaches know you are going. I will put lists up on the slalom notice board at the club – please remember to sign up as early as possible.

Anyone can have ago providing you have some basic paddling ability. Even if you are not particularly competitive slalom is a great way to improve your paddling skills.

Thanks
Duncan
