KKC Slalom paddlers at Grand Tully Slalom 2009 KKC Slalom paddlers at Grand Tully Slalom 2009

We are running a Mini Slalom series for KKC paddlers aged 16 and under. This is a new event aimed at letting you all having a go at Canoe Slalom, racing your friends at the club and will help in working towards your paddlepower qualifications.

All unranked paddlers 16 and under who are currently paddling outdoors on Monday nights may take part. We plan to run a number of short slalom races after your outdoor session each week. You will each be given two chances to race round a simple slalom course setup on the outdoor pool each Monday. Your time will be recorded and we will produce results each week. Overall winners and prize giving will be on Monday 5th July after the junior session in the club house.

Race Sessions will be held on the following dates:-

Monday 17th May
Monday 24th May
Monday 7th June
Monday 14th June
Monday 21st June
Monday 28th June

Results & Prize giving Monday 5th July.

Unranked means you haven’t achieved promotion to Division 3 at any time. If you have never raced Slalom before you or are still in Division 4 you are eligible to race.

All you need is your normal ourdoor paddling gear and lots of determination. If you have a helmet please bring it otherwise we will lend you one.

If you have any questions please contact the Junior Committee members (Sam & Louise) or Duncan Berriman

If you enjoy the Mini Slalom series you might like to paddle at KKC’s own slalom competition which is being held on the weekend 24th/25th July at Howsham Weir where we will be running a short course Division 4 (beginners event) in conjunction with our normal Division 2 and Division 3 races.

If you enjoy your first taste of canoe slalom and would like to do more please let Duncan know and he can arrange a beginners course for you.

Outdoor Pool Use (All users)
============================

We will require sole use of the outdoor pool for the length of time it takes
to complete the race each week. The race will be held just after the
completion of the Junior Outdoor Session and should take no longer than
20-30 minutes. Please help us by ensuring you clear the pool quickly before
each event if you are using the pool. As soon as we are finished you are
welcome to use the pool again.
