Junior Code of Conduct
Simple rules so everyone can enjoy paddling safely.
- Listen to coaches and instructors.
- Follow safety instructions straight away.
- Stop and listen when someone is speaking.
- Be kind and respectful to others.
- Look after club equipment.
- Stay with the group.
- Tell an adult if I am worried or need help.
- Try my best and have fun.
- Ignore coaches or safety instructions.
- Mess about in a way that puts people at risk.
- Bully, tease or upset others.
- Damage equipment.
- Leave the session without telling an adult.
- Use bad language or offensive comments.
Speak to a coach, Welfare Officer, parent/carer or another adult you trust. You will not be in trouble for speaking up.

Be kind. Be respectful. Everyone belongs.
Bullying hurts. It can happen in person or online. At Kingston Kayak Club, we look out for each other and make sure everyone feels safe and included.
- Be kind and include everyone.
- Encourage and support each other.
- Respect people’s feelings and differences.
- Speak up if someone is being bullied.
- Treat others how we want to be treated.
- Tell a coach or adult if we are worried.
- Bully, tease or leave anyone out.
- Use hurtful words or make fun of others.
- Hit, push or hurt others.
- Send unkind messages or post mean things online.
- Spread rumours.
- Ignore someone who needs help.

Events Kingston Kayak Club is running in 2026.
Derwent Marathon – 21st June 2026
Kingston’s first marathon of the year. A great opportunity to get on the water — race it or paddle it for fun, it’s up to you.
Location: Barmby on the Marsh.
Joy Davis Hull International – 4th & 5th July 2026
Come along and watch teams from across the British Isles compete at the UK’s largest canoe polo tournament.
Footgolf, crazy golf, ice cream and pizzas are available on site, so you can make a day of it.
Wolfreton Marathon – 4th October 2026
Kingston’s second marathon of the year. Another great opportunity to get on the water — race it or paddle it for fun, it’s up to you.

What to Bring to a Session
A quick checklist for junior paddlers.
- Clothing suitable for paddling.
- A towel.
- A full change of clothes.
- Shoes that can get wet.
- A water bottle.
- Any medication you may need.
- A positive attitude.
The Club will advise when helmets, buoyancy aids or other safety equipment are needed.
For Parents and Carers
How you can help juniors get the best from the Club.
- Make sure juniors arrive on time.
- Ensure medical and emergency contact details are up to date.
- Help juniors understand the Club rules.
- Encourage respectful behaviour.
- Speak to a coach or Welfare Officer if you have concerns.
Safeguarding and Welfare
Everyone should feel safe, respected and able to enjoy paddlesport.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. If something feels wrong, if you are worried about yourself or someone else, or if you see behaviour that is not acceptable, please speak up.
