During February we have two trips planned:
Intermediate White Water Trip – 18th February
This trip is suitable for those who have been on whitewater before.
The intention, if conditions are appropriate, is to paddle on the River Tees, Ure or Wharfe; all Grade 2/3.
If the weather is not suitable we will create another plan on the morning.
The intention is to meet at the clubhouse at 0800 hours on Sunday 18th February. We will load cars depending on the numbers. I would like a parent volunteer to assist with equipping and collecting hire / site fees
Please bring your own equipment if suitable but remember the club has a good selection of equipment. Ideally you will have personal insulation (thermal underwear, NOT rash vests as they provide little insulation) and appropriate footwear
All participants will need to dress up warm and bring a packed lunch including a warm drink. As with any out door activity the weather both on the day and in the lead up can make a huge difference to the prevailing conditions and what the final plan will be.
There will be a number of qualified and experienced paddlers helping out so you can confidently and safely experience the excitement of river canoeing.
We should be back in Hull for around 5pm latest to unpack and re store all the kit.
Beginners White Water Session – 25th February
The intention, if conditions are appropriate, is to paddle on the River Derwent at Howsham.
If the weather is not suitable we will create another plan on the morning.
The intention is to meet at the clubhouse at 0900 hours on Sunday 25th February. We will load cars depending on the numbers. I would like a parent volunteer to assist with equipping and collecting hire / site fees
The aim of the day will be to cover the basics of white water paddling so you’ll understand the meaning of up stream, down stream, edging, ferry gliding, breaking in and breaking out.
