Club Christmas Party & Awards Evening

This is a summary of the presentation evening for those who unfortunately could not make the event. Dave Rawding presented the awards on behalf of the Chairman with the assistance of Ethan Moore.

Thanks to all whose help make activity at the KKC happen

The move of Hull International from Princes Quay to a new venue was great success

The restructuring of the finances mean’s that the club is again sustainable. This was a long and complex piece of work and thanks to all those that helped that process. The KKC will always try and minimise costs to members but need to reflect cost pressures in subs and memberships.

It was a great result having 2 brothers that are members of the KKC in the GB Worlds Canoe Polo team and in particular to Alex Lowthorpe who was part of the u 21 team that became world champions.

Trophies 2016 were awarded as follows with short rationale.

Slalom – Jack Burrows; selection to regional squads and progress through year in both K1 and C1

Stephen Goodrum Trophy – Daniel White; who has tried lots of different activities

Kier Davey – Joe Welsh; double winner this one for merit and the Fish Award for non!

Marathon –  James White; great racing, however also for his help in clearing the sludge next to the drain on pool cleaning day!

Polo  – Senior – Alex Lowthorpe; U21 World Polo Champion

Polo – Junior  – Ben Jones; for progress in teams and braving it playing with adults on Mondays

Coaches Award  – Luke Robinson; young coach who puts considerable time into helping KKC

Frank Courtney –  Julian & Lesley Medina for contribution to restructuring club finances

Fish Award –   Joe Welsh for a brilliant example of how not to do white water kayaking on the River Ure during club camping weekend. He was however under strong competition from a late entry by Duncan who showed off the pogo stick head plant capsize technique on Howsham (however the trophy had already been engraved by then!)

This is a great event and its really nice to spend time with friends in a ‘dry’ non canoeing environment.

River Trip with a small ‘garnish’ of White Water – 04/12/16

This trip is suitable for all. This is the weekend of the club presentation evening so lets make it a full on weekend of activity and use some of our new kit.

It will be on the flat water of the River Derwent (North East of York), however it includes a couple of ‘slide down’
