Whether you’re brand new to paddling or returning after a break, Kingston Kayak Club is a friendly, inclusive space to get out on the water and try something new. From junior sessions to adult beginners, we’ve got something for everyone.
Follow the steps below to get started with your first session.
Step 1: Create Your Paddle UK Account
Kingston Kayak Club uses the Paddle UK JustGo Portal to manage sessions and bookings. Before you can take part, you’ll need to set up a free account and affiliate with the club.

🧑💻 Important: Please create the account in the name of the person who will be paddling – this is essential for safety, insurance, and accurate registration.

You can set up a family account with linked profiles.

Click “Sign Up” and create your Paddle UK account.

Complete your personal details – including emergency contacts and medical info. – The person

Once registered, go to the My Profile section.

Select the “Clubs” tab in the sidebar.

Click “Join a Club” and search for Kingston Kayak Club.

Click Join, then confirm your affiliation.
📝 Note: If you already have a Paddle UK membership (for example, for insurance or competition), just log in and complete steps 3–6.
Step 2: Book Your First Session
Once you’ve affiliated with Kingston Kayak Club, you’ll unlock access to our session listings.

Log in to the JustGo Portal.

Click on the Events tab in the top menu.

Use the filters or search bar to find Kingston Kayak Club sessions.

Choose a session (e.g. “Junior”, “Adult”, “Paddle & Pint”) that suits your age and experience.

Click Book, and follow the prompts to confirm your place.
💡 New paddlers should start with a “Beginner” or “Try It” session unless otherwise advised.
Step 3: What to Bring & Expect
Don’t worry – you don’t need to buy a boat or paddle!

Kayaks or canoes

Paddles

Buoyancy aids

Helmets (where needed)

Friendly coaches and volunteers
🎒 You Should Bring:

Lightweight clothes you don’t mind getting wet

Old trainers or water shoes (no bare feet)

A towel and change of clothes

A bottle of water and a smile!
🚿 Changing and shower facilities are available at the club.
Step 4: Arrive Early and Say Hello
Please arrive 15–20 minutes before your session to get changed and ready. One of our coaches will meet you, talk you through the session, and make sure you’re safe and comfortable on the water.
We’re a welcoming club, and there’s no pressure to get everything right on your first go – just come ready to give it a try!
Step 5: Stay Involved!
After your first session, you’ll be invited to:

Join regular club paddling

Take part in events and trips

Explore different disciplines like slalom, polo, marathon, and SUP

Become a club member and paddle regularly
